My little love has always had problems with Halloween. Last year he surprised us all when he actually wanted to put on the Thomas costume. This year he has seemed excited, changing his mind 4 times before settling on Super Mario. Still, this morning he woke up in tears because his friends would be in costume at school. So, just in case you haven't seen this before...
"Tonight a lot of strange creatures may visit your door. Be open-minded. The child who grabs more than one piece of candy may have poor fine motor skills. The child who takes forever to pick a piece of candy may have delayed motor processing skills. The child who does not say 'trick-or-treat' or 'thank you' may be nonverbal. The child who looks disappointed upon seeing your bowl may have food allergies. The child not wearing a costume may have autism or sensory processing disorder. Be nice. Be patient. Be understanding. It's everyone's Halloween. Make overwhelmed parents feel good about their decision to try trick-or-treating by respecting their child. Happy Halloween!"
